Unpurposed

I need to get back into computers. My hobby has pretty much gone almost entirely to the wayside. It pretty much has had to. Between work, family, and prior obligations- it hasn’t been easy to maintain a baseline working knowledge in software. I’ve managed, because luckily things haven’t changed drastically. The same can’t be said ten years from now, though. It’s important to keep up, so that when the lagging business world finally adopts what’s new, I won’t be left in the dust.

Four Years Ago

Four years ago my divorce was finalized. In that same span of time I made a depressing discovery- The realization that there are people in this world, sometimes quite a few of them, who can’t respect you and enjoy your company at the same time.

I spent a long time abandoned by every friend and family member I had, save for a single person. I have not always made the most reasonable decisions. I still don’t. I never will. I’ll choose to be myself. Only now, I’ll also take example from an amazing and inspiring person in my life. When I find someone has so much to protest about how I live my life, I’ll promptly tell that person I’m going to live how I’m going to live and if they’re staunchly opposed they can fuck off post haste.

Insights

One of these days I’m going to get around to writing something topical. Something insightful. Something that can assist a person who’s googling fervently for an answer to a complex situation or question. One of these days.

Today is not one of those days. Today is just another useless rant about absolutely nothing at all.

Why? I dunno. It seems like any time I have something insightful to write, I don’t have time to write it. Once the urge has passed, so too has my time to write about whatever the hell had occurred to me prior. It’s an ugly cycle of “non-writing” that’s pretty much relegating this blog to “livejournal” status.

Crazy Days

I’m considering trying to move up from working for a tier three automotive supplier to either a tier one supplier or OEM. Not sure if I’ll be successful, but I certainly won’t find out until I make the attempt.

My son turns two tomorrow. He’s growing so fast. My daughter is already huge. She’s brilliant for her age, just as my son is brilliant for a toddler. I’m grateful for my kids.

Reprieve

Two days at a waterpark and one day at a casino. I’ve had ample opportunity to recharge my batteries for the coming onslaught of [potentially] bad or simply rough times ahead.

I’m finding myself having less and less time to devote to being a blog writer and webmaster. I’m glad I’ve deigned to organize this blog in such a manner that it’s incredibly “hands off”, especially since I can’t be the interactive type of Admin many web services require.

Exhaustion

I don’t get very many full weekends off. Whenever I do, it feels like a special occasion. If I’m getting more than a day off at a time it’s usually due to holidays. I need a break. I need time to sit on my ass and be lazy, or just be domestic and do something in my house.

It feels as though I would benefit from taking a break from worrisome things. I need to avoid the news for a while; to avoid twitter and other sources of information about the world collapsing in on itself. Looking at my timeline, you’d think the sky was falling. Anti-vaxers are going to kill us all with long-dead diseases. Ebola is going to mutate and make everyone hemorrhage to death from their anuses. Bobby Jindal is going to run for president, win, and make the national religion Christianity and force prayer in school.

Wow

Everyone just do me a favor- Ignore the drunk rambling guy. He means no one any harm. He’s just having a rough few days at his place of employment and is bashing the keys on the keyboard with regrettable zeal. Yoink. Taking that one back.

Anyways. Carry on.

IDK

I guess this is just a blog post to write a blog post. It’s pretty nice to be able to write whatever the hell I want, have it available publicly, and yadda yadda.

I’ve been climbing ladders at work. It seems I’m valued (so far) by my employer. I guess I deliver on more than just promises, I innovate. I save money and increase revenue. I guess having me around is a huge bonus for them.
