Insane World
I can’t explain it, but it seems as though our species has an inverse correlation between technological progress and social progress. The more complex we become technologically, the more deranged we are socially. I’d be lying if I laid claim to understanding it. I definitely don’t, and I really can’t begin to pick apart possible causes for the phenomenon. But it’s there, staring me plainly in the face, along with the rest of society. What an odd circumstance.
One of the most irritating things I’m dealing with currently is my ex acting like a petulant child. My kid is struggling at school and it looks like I’m the only one who gives a damn, but it would be great to get some assurance from the people I have to co-parent with that they’re at least taking steps toward helping him catch up. Right now it feels like I’m the only one pressing him to talk to his math teacher to figure out why he’s not getting any credit on his assignments and retake what he can. Of course, they both basically refuse to talk to me. My ex has hated having to deal with me when I started pointing out her statements are blatant and provable lies and all of her arguments are about as strong as wet toilet paper. Granted, I’m not perfect, and I aim to do better, and somehow that’s even more triggering to her. Whatever, other people’s mental illnesses are not my problem. Fuck ’em both.
We’re going to New Orleans in January and I’m pretty excited. My wife is attending a conference there and while she’s learning about the latest and greatest medical advancements in her specialty I’ll be trapsing along Bourbon Street having a good old time. Then, when she’s done, we’re going to tear up Bourbon Street together. It should be an awesome time, though I really want to go during Mardi Gras at some point. So a return visit has to be in the cards. Though I’ve heard it gets so busy that booking is way out in advance. I think we can pull it off.
Anyway, this collection of rants is basically just a proof of life. Yes, I’m still here. Just getting a little busy and distracted, maybe too much to update this thing semi-regularly.
