I write a lot of negative stuff on here. Most of the positivity in my life has stayed within the four walls of my home, and to an extent my place of work. I think it’s time to change that, though. I’m sure everyone loves to see me seethe and boil on here, or everyone just cringes as I shout like a lunatic into the ether. Either way, I think I’m going to mix it up. I’m going to write about things I’m grateful for, things I like, and things that overall make me happy.
First and foremost, my family. I have a wonderful family. My fiancée is the best partner a person could ever hope for. She’s supportive, intelligent, loving, and amazing all around. I never expected I could ever deserve someone so amazing, let alone find someone so amazing. My kids are good kids. They amuse me and enthrall me and do and think great things.
I’m grateful for the friends I have. They’re cool people with interesting thoughts and lives. I’m grateful for my job, even if it kills me sometimes.
I dunno. I think it’s easy to read this and believe that I’m huffing around all the time red-faced and screaming, but the reality is that I’m a pretty calm person. I’m non-confrontational, though I’ve definitely been angry when provoked, but largely I’m really laid back. I don’t think that’s communicated at all on this blog. This blog is probably the reason I’m so laid back. I get to dump all the bad and negative crap into this while keeping a sunny disposition in person. It feels optimal for me. But I also don’t want this to just be a black tar pit of mean-spirited and hateful shit, either. I want it to be somewhat balanced, at least. Especially since I think I have a plan for keeping this damn thing going long-term in a sustainable way.
I’m also grateful for my interests and hobbies. I love computers and technology. I really love the hell out of POSIX operating systems of all kinds, even MacOS. Git is a new favorite of mine, and running barebones git over ssh is fucking awesome. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, because if they try to, it’s because they’re pussies. I’m sure it’s easier to work with gitlab, but all that HTML and AJAX requires overhead that I can’t justify spending. Screw that. Plain git over ssh. It’s AWESOME.
I’m grateful for the good people in the world just trying to do right.
