Sunday Funday

I fucking love weekends. I never work them, and I typically need the two days of rest in order to recuperate from the insanity of the work week. It’s not just insane during work, but I have kids. They have stuff they do after school. It’s tough to be a parent these days. Back in the 90’s kids didn’t do shit. We were kicked out the front door and told to be home in time for dinner and that was pretty much it. No sports, no dancing or music, just boot us and that’s it. 90’s parents had a pretty sweet setup. Seems like they bitched a lot, though, when they comparatively had it much easier.

Bzzzzz

I restarted an anxiety medication and I always feel a weird buzz in my brain for the first half hour after it kicks in. I’m not fond of the feeling it produces, but it seems to help quite a bit after the initial buzzing wears off. Has anyone else experienced that with Buspar, I wonder? I’m sure they have. I highly doubt I’m the only person prescribed it that would feel at least some side effect. Seems like we’re a society of side effects these days. Side effects from chemicals released into the environment from manufacture, side effects from prescriptions, and side effects from poor life choices. We’re a veritable cornucopia of aberration. Most of us, anyways. There are a few of us who are actively trying to dodge the pitfalls of an industrial society, but not many. Certainly not enough to count for much.

Duly Noted

I was going to start banging out a contentious stream of my usual gripes, but I don’t think I’m going to do that today. Instead, I’m going to write about things that I’m excited for and incredibly happy about.

I’m getting married at the end of April to a wonderful woman that checks all my boxes as well as boxes I didn’t know I had to check. She’s the best. As unyielding and unforgiving as the world can be, it’s the relationship we’ve built that I can retreat to. She is my soulmate, and I love her more than anything.

Data Privacy Matters

On the offhand chance you haven’t seen the latest egregious moral assault on freedom by Republicans, they’re grabbing attempting to power-grab at the private medical data of women in Virginia in order to force births upon women. This should chill you to the bone, and if it doesn’t, you honestly are the problem with humanity. The amount of disgust I feel right now is immense. Especially with these self-righteous twatbags constantly crying about the constitution as if they were even remotely aware of its contents. This is my line in the sand. This is where I’ll viciously correct you publicly and do the best I can to humiliate you into reason. This shall not stand, and I vehemently oppose it. The GOP has absolutely gutted women’s healthcare and they’re not stopping, they’re going to continue pushing until we’re actually living out The Handmaid’s Tale as if it were an instruction guide rather than a terrifying work of fiction. This is real, folks. This is happening right now. Stop using TikTok. Drop Google. Drop Microsoft. Drop every company that treats your data like shit, because they’re giving it to the government and the government is clearly not your friend. The government has never been your friend, and it never will be, even if your “chosen candidates” are in office. As citizens, it’s our civic duty to play corporations and the government against each other. It is our patriotic duty to ensure that corporations never have too much power, and the government never has too much power. We’re somehow failing horribly on both fronts, and it’s time we corrected that. We need to wrest our country from the hands of those who would destroy it with accretion of power. We still do have power. The GOP is making power plays, and the democrats are pathetically helpless. Vote democrat. Vote straight blue ticket. Once we have another federal precedent to protect abortion access, then you can vote Libertarian or Republican or Independent. Once things are fixed you should vote all over the place. Don’t support a single party like a cult, even if you consider yourself a democrat. Don’t do it, because you’ll regret it. The party likely is just a “this one currently fits best” type deal, I guarantee you don’t support everything they do. That said; divest. It is not in your interest to mindlessly follow anyone. Always follow your rationale, never follow the lies of the former lawyer force-feeding you bullshit, regardless of whether he’s in the party you’re registered to vote for.

Freedom

My last relationship was simultaneously the worst thing as well as most transformative to ever happen to me. I didn’t come out cleanly on the other side, but I absolutely came out a stronger and more aware person. I can safely say that in the eight years in which it lasted, the only honest statement she ever put forward was that she was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder twice, once as a teenager and once as an adult.

Anxiety

Anxiety is a dual-edge sword. On one hand it’s an incredibly useful tool to keep yourself out of dangerous situations. Being somewhere you really don’t need to be that could potentially lead to bad situations or harm should cause you anxiety. It’s the same sort of notion behind our ability to detect heat. It keeps our hands out of open flames. So too anxiety serves a purpose. Of course, this is just me justifying that I feel it in copious amounts. Somehow telling myself that it’s not a bad thing, it’s just a bad thing in excess, which is a problem I’ve been plagued with all my life.

The Ashes of Rome Are on Fire

It’s wild to me that a thirteen year old girl got knocked up two thousand years ago and the lie she told carries repercussions even today. Thanks to that little shithead we have morons screaming about homosexuality like it affects them personally. It’s absurd that in this day and age there’s still a culture war raging. The self-righteous side would gate-keep marriage from all but heterosexuals and diminish the voice of the gay community to but a whimper, should they win this war. The reality is that homosexuality predates religion, and certainly all current religions by a long shot. They know this. It’s in their bibles. But we aren’t describing a well-rounded or educated group, we’re describing fundamentalist sycophants eternally sucking up to their mute space ghost. A good number of these lunatics are convinced that Satan buried dinosaur bones to “confuse” humanity. They adhere vehemently to the “six thousand years” historical model, implying that space as we know it didn’t exist longer than six millennia.

Adani Tumbling

I don’t know if you’ve been living under a rock or not for the last week or so. On the slight chance that may be the case, allow me to tell you that India’s wealthiest man is turning out to be just as much “call center scammer” as India’s poorest men. Pajeet done goofed. It’s a wild story to watch unfold, especially as this “Hindenburg Research” has viscerally ripped Adani a new asshole with an intense and damning report ranging from clear nepotism to blatant fraud. It’s a thing of glory, and I think HSBC and Goldman Sachs are reeling because these sorts of financial attacks could come for them next. Me, personally, I enjoy the bloodbath. I hope Hindenberg Research turns a pretty profit from shorting Adani companies. I hope the trend continues and the world of finance is rocked by these new types of hedge funds. They’re not necessarily new, per se, but this very public sort of attack is fairly new. Normally it’s some crackpot holding a sign that reads “The End is Near” and not a team of financial experts and researchers compiling a comprehensive dossier to release into the wild and wreak havoc.
